Some End of Summer Updates

Hi Guys,

I took an unplanned break from blogging the past month. Things got a little crazy around here, some things were really awesome, some things were really scary, so... I didn't have the time or mental capacity to blog.

Sometimes, we just have to focus on the most important issues at hand, and that's what I've been doing. Here are a few pictures from the past several weeks, though, to show you some of what's been going on. I'll be talking about a few of the other things in future blog posts, so stay tuned!

This is us getting ready to watch the SUPER MEGA AWESOME SOLAR ECLIPSE 2017 in front of our house. Our area had 90% coverage, so it didn't get totally dark. But, it did get like sunset here, and the temperature dropped 20 degrees for about 20 minutes. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Utah weather hit its summer stride and the golden tones that are significant to late summer in the dry west started to appear everywhere. Even our green turns more golden than the rich deep green of spring, as evidenced by the pictured below.

I found these lovely tall sunflowers along a sidewalk, and had to stop and take a picture with them. They didn't mind. Too many people drive by and don't pay them much attention.

Harvest season appeared. One of my favorite late summer/fall harvests around here are peaches. They pair nicely with buttered cinnamon raisin toast. Peaches are always a delicacy to me, but I never knew just how special they were until my stepmom from Thailand got really excited about the fact that she could grow a peach tree in her yard here in town. Where she is from, it's always tropical and it never gets cold enough for peaches to grow. I guess living in the cold actually does have its perks!
