2016: The Year of Gain

happy new year 2016smiling girl gif

I like to start the new year with an idea. This is not a resolution, or a laundry list of goals for the year. I tend to fail at those. Instead, I develop some type of idea that I try to keep in mind all year long. For me, this year is going to be all about the word GAIN

Gain // to reach, especially by effort
Favorite synonyms: improvement, growth, progress, advance

So, how do I think I'll go about this? I am not sure just yet. I have a few ideas. I'd like to run longer, earn more money, have less debt, write better, become a more experienced gardener, have stronger muscles, better health, and better relationships. I don't know if I can tackle all of those in one year. So, I'll just focus on the idea of gain. All of these will require effort, energy, focus. Often we can't gain anything without trying, or without work. I intend to work toward the things I want, and at the end of the year, I hope to see real gains.

Little by little, things will improve if I devote my energies to improvement overall. Gaining in good ways, and focusing on my true goals.

With that being said, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope your year is wonderful!

+ What are your hopes for 2016? Did you set resolutions? If so, what are they? Do you choose a word to focus on? If so, please share it below!

  1. I'm obsessed with your top image! You cutie patootie. I love the idea of learning ways to gain. But if you run a lot you might "lose" (me trying to be "punny")
I'm hoping to make this a year of energy. Not to be busy, but to feel energetic, more spontaneous, and open for opportunities. Learn to be fearless. Happy New Year, Lana, dear!

    1. I hope to "gain" energy, too! I have been such a lazy butt. I seriously with sometimes that Netflix had never been invented. I'm starting to become one with my couch after work. Happy new year to you too!
