Garden Update: Summer 2018

Garden Update: Summer 2018 // www.thejoyblog.net

Talk about a satisfying scene when I walk out to the garden! My patio never could look as good as this garden does. It was just too hot. It's been a really hot summer, but despite that, the garden still looks fantastic. I'm so glad I'm not gardening on the patio this year, we've had endless weeks of 95+ degree heat, and on my old patio that would mean a summer of 130 degrees. Nothing grows in that kind of heat, and when it would be that hot on the patio, all the plants would struggle.

Here in my new garden, everything is looking healthy and big.

The only things that have been taking their sweet time are my winter squashes and my melon plants.  I'm not quite sure why, but I think it has something to do with our soil. We have pretty depleted soil in our yard, and I think I need to bring in a lot of compost. The cucurbits just don't wanna do much. But that's ok, everything else is going nuts!
