Dose of Happy: Faith In Humanity Restored

So, I know this isn't a crazy big deal, but I had to stop in and share this story. It made a big deal in my life, and I'm super grateful.

Last night I left my iPhone at a truckstop 85 miles from my house. I didn't notice until I was home late that evening.

I called them to find out if anyone had turned it in because it was showing up on Find My iPhone as being there. They said someone had found it in the restroom and turned it in immediately. They also held it for me to come get.

I'm a lucky girl. iPhones are a hot item and get stolen regularly when left places. It was a 170 mile round-trip drive this morning, and caused me to have to work from 12:30-8:30pm today instead of my normal shift, but I'm so grateful! I had a lot of pictures saved on the phone that I didn't want to lose, a text message from my mom before she was too sick to text anymore, a voicemail from her as well, and several notes for books I'm writing that I haven't written down anywhere else yet.

Also, iPhones are expensive and I really didn't want to have to go through the rigor of replacing it since we just spent a bunch of money replacing our dead fridge.

I'm so grateful that some passerby at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere Utah, had the integrity to turn it in, and the workers there had the same integrity to hold it for me.

I'm a lucky girl! I'm so glad people are still great in this world. And I still get to listen to my mom's voicemail whenever I want to hear her voice.

Oh, and when I got home my new rose bush was in full bloom. I picked some to decorate the house. Aren't they lovely?

I hope your Monday is great!

  6. Wow phew! Huzzah for integrity. I joke I'll never let myself get an iphone because I lose my phones FAR too often. Thankfully I'm always about 8 years behind the times in the phone department, so no one wants to steal mine ;)

    1. The whole time I kept telling my husband, "I wish I had an old brick phone from 2004, it wouldn't matter at all!"
