Joyful Minutes: The Joy Blog's Gratitude Journal

Monday, March 23, 2015

Happy Monday, everyone! Today I'll be starting a new thing that will show up on the blog from time to time. One year my mom gave me a blank spiral bound journal. This was to be my gratitude journal. She was determined that all of us would find ways to look for the good in our lives as opposed to the things going wrong. She had been doing it in her own life and had reaped the benefits of a brighter outlook. I didn't put too much effort into the gratitude journal, as most kids tend to ignore their parents' wishes. So, to make up for lost time, I'll do sporadic posts on here, called Joyful Minutes, that will have little bits of things that are going right in my life. I'd love to hear what's going right in yours. Please share in the comments! Now, let's get to my gratitude list!

JOYFUL MINUTES FOR MARCH 23, 2015

1. Started reading The Lovely Bones, and absolutely am hooked after the very first page. This is going to be good.

2. My cat, Rex Manning (or Sexy Rexy to his fans), bumps his forehead against my chin sometimes. Usually it's after he had a rough day, most likely fighting (and losing) with a neighborhood cat. It's a sign of, "Hey, thanks for loving me, lady." Poor adorable sissy.

3. Getting to raid the local garden center, and get my cold weather garden planted! I'm like a kid in a candy store at garden centers. Right now I'm growing Swiss Chard, Spinach, Kale, Romaine Lettuce, and Radishes. Wish me luck. All of these are new to my gardening skills!

4. Finding some new jeans that were 50% off and ended up being only $20. I now don't have to wear my pants unbuttoned with a belt. Hooray for jeans that fit!

5. Finding this song & video. *SIGH* Ed Sheeran's a killer love song writer.

    1. That's why clothing designers make larger sizes, so we can feel comfy without having to lose weight.

  2. My good things: the haul I got at Barnes and Noble. Stuff for me and each of my three kids. Also, I found a good song for our dance team for next year: Dollhouse. However, there will have to be some editing as the lyrics are not so ........ appropriate. Awesome song all the same.

    1. Thank you! I decided to dedicate this entire blog to happiness and joy, I figured it couldn't hurt to look on the bright side. Hang in there in Canada! I live in the Rocky Mountains and we're experiencing a ridiculously warm winter, I am pretty sure Mother Nature is going to kick our butts with snow this spring because for the first time in my life, she didn't really give us much over the winter.

    1. For the most part it's here! We are having an early spring after a REALLY unsual warm and snowfree winter. It's pretty great! Although a little weird that it didn't snow more than once. Usually we have snow until April!
